This sustainability-focused competition for a school in Basel is set in the urban context of a new affordable housing neighborhood.

The reduced plot area demands for a very compact building, which we achieved by having a very efficient floor plan layout, placing the gym in the basement and using the flat roof as part of the playground. A series of terraces to the side of the building connect the ground level play areas with the rooftop playground, and serve as an interface between the internal rooms and the exterior.
